Authentic Morocco Tour 14 Days
Day 1: CASABLANCA AIRPORT MED V – CITY TOUR – RABAT
Upon your arrival from Casablanca airport we are going to start our tour in the kingdom of Morocco. We will visit the mosque Hassan II, the biggest religious building in the country ( 210 m high minaret). It is open for non-Muslims so an optional visit is interesting to see the amazing work of more than 10 000 handicraftsmen. We drive to the capital of the country Rabat to see the beautiful yard of the royal palace. And Challah a lovely spot to watch the Roman ruins and the remains of Merinid tombs 14th century. We will see the unfinished mosque of tower Hassan and the mausoleum of Mohammed V.
Day 2: RABAT – MEKNES – VOLUBILIS – FEZ
Today we visit Oudaya Kasbah a fortress and a citadel of 12th used by the Almoravides to prepare troops before they launched their attacks on Spain. Not to miss its hidden beautiful garden and a view over Abi-Rigrege river which was a prison of certain ships in the history of the Berber pirates started at 16thC and ended at 18thC. Then we drive to Meknes to explore the old city with its the most beautiful gates like Bab-Mansour(1732) an impressive work with marble pillars. To visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ismael; the sultan who created the city in the 18th century. And to visit HeriSouani used to receive over 12000 horses and tons of barley and wheat stored in granaries with so many wells as water tanks. In open vast lands and cereal fields, we stop in Volubilis. It is the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco. A guided tour inside of the Roman site will take you back to the myths of the Romans by the stunning mosaic, streets, columns, and baths. Transfer to Fez.
Day 3: FEZ
After a late breakfast, you will have a guided visit at 10:00 Am in the medina of Fès. To begin with the southern tower and the fortress of 16th-century face to face with northern one, a panoramic view over the medieval city. We will visit an enjoyable cooperative of pottery. It will enhance your knowledge about the making of Moroccan mosaic “zellige” and the blue pottery of Fez. A true labyrinthine old city of the 8th century. You will travel in time back to the medieval period of the city where people still work in small narrow streets, several tiny stalls of all kinds of traditional crafts, and donkeys loaded with supplies are going up and down in the streets of the medina. You will feel no sense of direction and time halts for a while. The medina of Fez is rich of its Islamic monuments: the fascinating old mosques, the University of El-Karaouiyine and its libraries. All These elements made Fez the intellectual and cultural capital of the country. To finish the day there is an optional dinner show to do.
Day 4: FEZ – MEDILT – ERFOUD
Today we will head towards the Middle Atlas mountains. It is home for Barbary apes called “the maggot”, native to the forest of cedar wood in the Middle Atlas. A break in Ifran town will be very appreciated. It is a famous place for ski resorts in Morocco and it is established during the French protectorate. We are having lunch in Medilt known for its best productions of apples in Morocco. Stop for the photo in Zizvalley which is the beginning of palm groves and dates. Our day ends in Erfoud the gate to the desert just hot it is time for swimming in the hotel !!!
Day 5: ERFOUD – RISSANI – ERG CHEBBI (CAMEL TREK)
Erfoud is the capital of Fossils in Morocco so you will have this chance to visit one of the factories where they make beautiful articles out of marble. And right after that, we visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Chref inRissani the founder of the actual Alaouite dynasty of Morocco at 17thcentury. We drive to Erg Chebbi time for a cup of tea and packing for desert camp. Meet up with Camels for camel-ride and head the dunes to watch the sunset. Overnight in the Berber tent.
Day 6: ERG CHEBBI – TOUDRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY
Coming back from the Berber camping on camels. Time for breakfast and shower after we Head to Tinjidad and we pull over to see the old underground system of irrigation “khatarat” which is still used in the oasis of Jerf. Lunch in Toudravalley. It has beautiful Ksours and mountains along 15 km of palm groves. To Arrive the spectacular Toudra gorges of 300 m high and to enjoy a little walk near the shallow river of Toudra. Then we head to Dades Valley to see the beautiful formations of High Atlas Mountains and of its one thousand Kasbah and one. Greenfields of figs, almonds, apricots, peach, walnut and pomegranate trees. Overnight in hotel
Day 7: DADES VALLEY – SKOURA PALMARY – OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU
Next step will be the Rose Valley, famous for rosewater and crèmes for the beauty. It is extracted from Damascena Rose which you find in some expensive perfumes, skin care, body care, cosmetics, hair care, medicine etc. In May people celebrate the harvest of roses in a festival. And you see kids on both sides of the road selling necklaces made of roses. Crossing the old palmary ofSkoura with its amazing old Kasbah and palm groves to arrive Ouarzazate. Optional visit of Taourert Kasbah Then heads to Ait Ben Haddou village. We explore the most preserved village of the south of the country, classified as one of the world’s heritages by UNESCO in 1987 and a series of movies were made in this village Gladiator, Prince of Persia …
Day 8: AIT BEN HADDOU – TAROUDANT
We will leave the beautiful village of Ait Ben Haddou and head towards the southern part of the High Atlas Mountains, Berber villages, and stunning landscapes. Taznakht is another Berber village known for weaving the Berber carpets in Morocco. We will stop in a little village Taliouine to see the most expensive spice Saffron which is from Crocus Sativus Flower. Then drive to what it was the capital of Morocco Taroudant in 1528 before it was changed to Marrakech. Time to have a little walk inside the ramparts of the city.
Day 9: TAROUDANT – AGADIR – ESSAOUIRA
Today we drive throughout green fields and farms to reach Agadir. It has the best beach resort in Morocco along 10 km. We visit the Kasbah on a top hill to have a panoramic view over the city and the beach. After lunch, we drive to Essaouira in a beautiful road by the sea. A forest of Argan trees spreading in this area. Women in cooperatives extract the argan oil for cosmetic and eating uses from the nuts of these trees
Day 10: ESSAOUIRA
Essaouira or ex-Mogador created in the 18th century, a nice city on the Atlantic coast. It has its ramparts, harbor, beach and purple islands. A great retreat for surfing and arts and it is a peaceful spot to lie on the beach reading your book and see the sunset on the Atlantic Ocean. Time to explore the small city on your own selves!!
Day 11: ESSAOUIRA – MARRAKECH
Another free Morning After Lunch we head to Marrakech. We pull over for a break in Sidi El-Mokhtar then carry on to Marrakech.
Day 12: MARRAKECH
In this morning we will start our tour with a local guide by visiting the outside walls of the red city, la Nouvelle Ville named Guéli. There is a nice lovely garden that you will admire, the famous Jardin de Majorelle. Besides, to visit an old Menara garden of the 12th century. The next step will be inside the ramparts of Marrakech in which There are many interesting historical sites in the medina. Koutoubia mosque 12th century that represents the glory and depth history of the city. You will discover the royal necropolis of the Saadians 17th century, the beautiful Bahia palace 19th century and the famous souks of Marrakech. You will be amazed by how many different stalls, colors, smells and goods in the souks. It is a great place for shopping some gifts for yourselves and for your beloved ones. It is nice to have a cup of mint-tea in one of the terraces in order to end up your journey in the red city, offering a great view over the magical square JamaeElfana that you always will remember!!!
Day 13: MARRAKECH
Free day in Marrakech /Extra: Hamman& spa.
Day 14: TRANSFER
Transfer to Marrakech or Casablanca airport End of tour
