Formerly known by its old Portuguese name “Mogador” by European sailors and traders, Essaouira is known for its annual Gnaoua Music Festival that takes place every year on June. The medina of Essaouira formerly “Mogador” is a UNESCO World Heritage city, one of the most charming medinas in all of Morocco, its ramparts and the Skala offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, Capsim islands, and the Portuguese harbor.
